SHDC Retains Architect Norman Alston for Historic Settles Hotel Restoration.
Big Spring, Texas – The Settles Hotel Development Company, LLC, (SHDC) today announced that it has finalized an agreement with Architect Norman Alston to provide architectural services for the Settles Hotel restoration project. Mr. Alston will lead an experienced team of professionals with significant expertise in historical restoration and preservation.
Norman Alston has a Bachelor of Architecture (BA) from the University of Texas at Austin and is a Registered Architect in the State of Texas. Mr. Alston began his private practice in 1987, and currently concentrates his professional services around historic preservation. Norman Alston Architects received the Rehabilitation Honor Award, Preservation Achievement Award, and the Economic Development Award for their outstanding historic restoration of the South Side on Lamar, Dallas, Texas. Other noteworthy projects include the Erath County Courthouse, Stephenville, Texas, and the Sams Historical Lofts, Waco, Texas, which was recognized by Preservation Texas with the Rehabilitation Honor Award. In addition to providing architectural services, Mr. Alston is a frequent lecturer on a myriad of architectural subjects and is a former member of the City of Dallas Landmark Commission.
