Settles Hotel Development Company Acquires Boys’ Club Facility.
Big Spring, Texas – The Settles Hotel Development Company, LLC, (SHDC) today announced that it has closed on the acquisition of the downtown Big Spring property located at 212 East Third Street. This property is adjacent to the historic Settles Hotel and includes three buildings that comprise the Boys’ Club of Big Spring (Boys’ Club) facility.
Mr. C. B. Andries, a local Big Spring resident, established the non-profit organization, which is a separate entity from the Boy’s Club of America, in the late sixties to serve the needs of the local youth. According to Mr. Andries, “The Boys’ Club offers a variety of learning and recreational activities for local boys including woodworking, educational development, and exercise programs.”
According to SHDC General Manager, Kristopher Ryan, “Under the terms of a lease between SHDC and The Boys’ Club, the Boys’ Club may continue to operate from its current location for up to one year. SHDC plans to adapt a portion of the facility for office space and for warehouse space for storing construction materials and other items recovered from the Settles Hotel during the renovation project. The ultimate use of the buildings has not been determined.
This property was acquired as part of the rehabilitation of the Settles Hotel and is strategically significant to the success of the Settles Hotel project. Among the early concepts being considered for the property is a multi-functional convention center. Redevelopment of the property will proceed in approximately one year, subject to acquisition of all appropriate surveys and permits. Additional information will be forthcoming.
